Mercè joined CURELL SUÑOL in 2015. Her functions in the firm consist of advising clients on the registration and defence of their trademarks, including preparation of oppositions and appeals in administrative proceedings (SPTO and EUIPO), as well as legal proceedings before the court of justice, coordination of foreign associates in the defence of International trademark designations; negotiations, drafting of contracts and agreements, preparation of clearing and availability searches on earlier rights, out-of-court cease and desist letters due to Intellectual Property infringement.
Previously, she worked as a lawyer for several firms in Barcelona. Mercè has also worked as a paralegal and lawyer for companies and firms in the United States. In addition, she has volunteered for the Office of a member of the Canadian Federal Parliament.
Mercè graduated in Law from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (2000), she holds a Paralegal Certificate from the Arapahoe Community College (USA) (2003), a Master of Laws in Intellectual Property Law & Policy from the University of Washington (USA) (2004), and a Business Certificate from the University of Washington (USA) (2005). She has attended several courses on Intellectual Property.
She has participated in the round table “How to protect you design against copies” within the Barcelona Design Week, with the presentation “ways of protecting your design through Trademark Law”.
