06 Nov Qatar launches official industrial design registration system
Applications for registered designs in Qatar can be submitted from October 2025.
The Qatari Ministry of Commerce and Industry, through the Intellectual Property Rights Protection Department, has announced the launch of the formal procedure for the filing of industrial design applications. This development marks a key step in the effective implementation of Qatar’s Industrial Design Law, which had remained inactive due to the absence of implementing regulations and administrative procedures.
With this measure, Qatar has officially activated a formal system for the protection of industrial designs, which until now could only be safeguarded through the publication of a cautionary notice in a local newspaper.
This regulatory update strengthens Qatar’s industrial property system and reaffirms the country’s commitment to protecting creativity, innovation, and the development of its industrial and design sectors.
At Curell Suñol, we can advise you on the protection of industrial designs both in Qatar and in other jurisdictions internationally. For further information, please contact us at mail@curell.com.
